Sustainable packaging procurement 2024

Sustainable packaging procurement

In procurement efforts aimed at long-term business sustainability, Premier Canning Industry Company Limited, a subsidiary, is committed to researching and developing in collaboration with reputable packaging manufacturers who share a dedication to sustainability goals. This ensures that the various packaging materials used in the company's production consider social and environmental responsibility, promote maximum utilization, and enable resource reduction. Through the efforts and cooperation of packaging manufacturers, the company has adopted new types of packaging that will continue to support the business's sustainability initiatives in the future.

Packaging is a crucial component of products, carrying a significant potential for environmental impact. In the past fiscal year 2024, the company collaborated with its business partners to conduct trials and feasibility studies on primary and secondary packaging developed by these partners for product packaging. Subsequently, the procurement, production, quality control departments, and the business partners jointly developed and designed packaging solutions aimed at achieving sustainability and reducing environmental impact. This initiative was piloted with packaging used for the company's own brands and presented to interested customer groups. The company's packaging development efforts in the past year included the following:

Packaging development in collaboration with partners plan

  • Outer Box Packaging: Reduced the paper grade and changed the printing from 3 colors to 1 color.
  • Product Labels: Switched the label coating from UV Coating to Water-based Coating.
  • Inserts: Reduced the height of the insert to half the box size, along with decreasing the paper weight. Additionally, inserts were eliminated entirely by redesigning the box structure
  • Pouch Packaging: Decreased the thickness of the CPP (ALU Pouch) material without compromising product safety and quality.
  • Inner Box Packaging: Reduced the paper weight while maintaining the box's strength to support the weight of the goods.
