Management of Production Process Waste and Canteen Food Waste
P.M. Food Company Limited (PMF), a subsidiary, has continued the social responsibility policy of Premier Marketing Public Company Limited to enhance the value chain in managing waste from its production processes and food scraps from its canteen. This initiative aims to utilize resources efficiently, leading to the development of a fertilizer production project from these waste streams, which helps reduce the daily volume of such waste. Three years ago, the company invested in a Composter machine after thorough research. This machine can produce approximately 2,000 kg of fertilizer per month. Analysis of nutrient content has shown that this fertilizer is rich in nitrogen, making it highly suitable for home gardens, leafy green vegetables, and ornamental plants.
The fertilizer produced by the Composter has been consistently distributed to employees. This allows staff with home gardens to experiment with it as an alternative to chemical fertilizers, thereby reducing their expenses and minimizing their reliance on chemical products, which can have environmental and health impacts. Additionally, the fertilizer is also shared with external organizations in surrounding communities that have agricultural plots for growing vegetables.
2024, PMF successfully produced a total of 11,450 kg of fertilizer. Of this, 9,090 kg was distributed to employees. The company also donated fertilizer to the Sufficiency Economy Learning and Training Center, established under the royal initiative of the 12th Infantry Regiment, King's Guard, Phairirayodej Camp, Sa Kaeo Province.
