Green Procurement 2022

Environmentally friendly procurement is another strategy for responsible sourcing. This ensures that the production of goods and services contributes to sustainable consumption. It emphasizes procurement that, in addition to transparency and fairness, considers the environmental friendliness of the raw materials' origin in the product manufacturing process or ensures that contracted services comply with environmental impact regulations.

In the case of environmentally friendly procurement, consideration is given to the key materials or components used in the production of goods and services that contribute to environmental impact. Therefore, the company has collaborated with its business partners to explore the feasibility of reusing recycled materials, from the material selection stage to the design process. This aims to achieve the sustainable use of goods and services and reduce environmental impact, starting with the procurement of premium product lines and promotional materials/media, among others.

In accordance with the company's policy that emphasizes operations considering Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects, the procurement department therefore considers and selects business partners with such a mindset. This is to acquire goods that use recycled and environmentally friendly materials. The target is to procure four environmentally friendly items within the premium product and print media categories, as follows:

       1. Eco-Friendly Bags (3,000 units) These bags are created through upcycling waste materials from the woven plastic sack production process, transforming them into valuable items under the Zero Waste project. Each bag is sewn by local housewives, contributing to income generation for villagers in various communities in Sikhio and Dan Khun Thot districts, Nakhon Ratchasima province.

        2. Taro Packaging Bags (189 units) These bags are also a result of upcycling waste materials from the packaging production process, specifically Taro product pouches, repurposing them for practical use. Additionally, recycled polyester fabric made from PET bottles is the primary material used in the design of these bags.

        3. Taro Car Stickers (22 vehicles) These car stickers are printed using an EPSON Sure Color S60070L printer with Eco-Solvent ink, an environmentally friendly printing ink free from nickel and fluorine compounds. The design and development aim to minimize waste.

        4. Taro Plush Pillows (500 units) These premium items used for sales promotion utilize recycled fiber as a substitute for polyester fiber. They are made from synthetic fibers derived from used plastic bottles (PET), which helps reduce the demand for newly produced plastic and alleviates the problem of plastic waste impacting the environment.
