Kor Khon Chuy Chor Chang (Man Helps Elephant)
activity to aid injured and aging elephants with health problems and wandering elephants that mainly can no longer work at elephant camps to Elephant’s World at Baan Nong Hoi, Tambon Wang Dong, Amphoe Muang, Karnchanaburi Province. The staff also planted different types of plants, such bananas, sugar cane, pineapple, pumpkin and bana grass, for use as elephant feed and joined the elephant bathing activity.
Elephant’s World has a total area of 130 rai and was founded by veterinarian Dr. Samart Prasithpol who has worked with elephants throughout his career with the Department of Livestock and knows of the problems with the elephants. This center provides a natural habitat and has sufficient water resources for caring for elephants. The charitable owner of the land has allowed it to be used for the Elephant’s World project, which currently has 7 elephants under its care. 6 of these are elderly elephants ranging from the age of 39-74 years old and 1 is a 9-year old street elephant being cared for on behalf of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
